HTC had already confirmed that Android 2.2 (Froyo) will be coming to Desire before Christmas. Which in fact HTC had previously announced it to come in beginning of Q3 2010. With the past experience from HTC Hero, it is no surprise that Froyo will be further delayed again. Let’s hope that HTC will keep their promise this time round.

Tips:

Holding on to the Home Button allows you to view the last 6 apps you’ve used.

View all Programs > Hold on the Apps you want to put at Home screen and drop.

Dial *#*#4636#*#* to view lots of info.

Do not use Task Killer to kill apps as Android OS will handle the resources itself. Only use it for bugging apps.

Turn off Wifi & GPS if not in need to save battery.

Tap on the contact picture, and you will see a list of shortcut such as call people, facebook, SMS, email, etc.

Delete Market, Gallery, Maps, etc Cache to save space.

Tricks:

Adding custom ringtones, notifications and alarms.

Create these folders:

Ringtones: /sdcard/media/audio/ringtones
SMS Alerts: /sdcard/media/audio/notifications
Alarm Alerts: /sdcard/media/audio/alarms

Copy the files into the respective folders.

Head to Settings > Sound > Change accordingly

Solve music player playing non-music items. (Credit – HWZ)

On your computer, open Notepad or any other text editor

Save the blank file as “.nomedia”
Make sure that the Save as type is set as “All Files” instead of “Text documents”

Copy that file to the folder on your SD card containing audio files you don’t want to show up.
(Example: If you want to block gameloft sound files from coming up, place the .nomedia file in the sdcard/games folder)

Reboot your phone and the files should no longer be viewable
This same trick works for folders containing images or videos that you don’t want to appear in the Gallery app. The files will still be accessible from your original app or an explorer like Astro or Estrong

Either restart the phone or clear your media storage cache from “Manage Applications”

Start your HTC Media player and now you will see only your music files and nothing extra.

Sync your contact from Outlook to Phone and then from Phone to Google

Menu > People > Menu > View > Phone
Still in People, now showing all contacts under Phone.

Menu > Export to SD card
Once done exporting to SD card.

Menu > Import from SD card > Select Google
Now that your Phone contact will be imported to Google.

Perform a Google contact Sync.

Wait and all contact should be Sync to your Google contacts in no time!

Note: You can do the above too, if you changed your phone and import the contact from SIM to phone and Sync to Google contacts.
