So the iPhone press conference that ended earlier this morning still does not gives us a good explanation to the antenna issue. Most of the time, it is just giving data and comparing with other smartphones to show that it is not only iPhone had the issue.

Let’s have a summary of what happen on the press conference itself.

Jobs claims that Apple had worked their butt off for the last 22 days to resolve this antenna issue that only 0.55% (out of 3 million) of iPhone 4 users who have called about antenna or reception issue.

He mentioned that Apple did their own test and as a result, they found that all other smartphones such as HTC Droid (Android), Blackberry Bold 9700 (RIM), Samsung Omnia II (WM) suffer the same issue as iPhone and stressed “Phones aren’t perfect. It’s a challenge for the whole industry. Every phone has weak spots.”

Jobs shows us the returns percentage of iPhone 3GS being 6% and iPhone 4 being 1.7%.

The latest update of iOS 4.0.1 fixes the way it reports the bar and other bugs. Apple also offers to give out free case to everyone who have yet to purchase the bumper and will refund all your money if you had already bought one. And the offer stands till 30 September 2010. However, they do not have enough bumper to give it out to all iPhone user. So they will offer a free other case for user to choose from.

Apple also offer to do a full refund for user who return a undamaged iPhone within 30 days of purchase.

All these starts on Apple website next week.

A announcement over here stated that coming 30th July, iPhone 4 will come to 17 others countries which includes Singapore, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Italy, Spain and others.

The conference ends with a Q&A session.

You can watch the full press conference over @ Apple

After almost 2 weeks, Apple had finally release a statement stating that it is due to software issue. Which actually makes its quite hard to believe.
There were rumors that Steve Jobs himself had replied a email to unsatisfying customers with regards to this issue.
Currently, the solutions seem to be either getting a case, or hold your iPhone the different way.

Just some time ago, Consumer Reports confirm that the iPhone itself had issue with signal while holding the wrong way. – Engadget

So, did Apple tries to tarnish its own reputation? or are they trying to rush out the product? What do you think?
